Caroline traveled to the IIT-Guwahati in Assam, India, mid-October to spend two weeks collecting and analyzing data on Indian English phonetics and phonology, and to enjoy some excellent food & coffee! Along with colleague Assoc. Prof. Priyankoo Sarmah of IIT, we are analyzing the VOT, vowel quality and duration, and rhythm of the English spoken by educated speakers of L1 Assamese.
