Dr. Tang was invited by the MAPS (Multicultural Association for Pre-Health Students) Fall Research Forum and gave a talk titled “Science without borders: where linguistics meets human health research” on November 23rd, 2020. In the talk, he illustrated how linguistics, the science of language, can play a role in human health research. He presented an overview from his own work, such as developing diagnostic tools for speech disfluency, predicting speech dysarthria using speech as a biomarker, improving health communication through linguistic accommodation, and understanding the collaborative dynamics in coronavirus research.
