Alexis Davis

Alexis is a first year PhD student in Linguistics. Her research is centered on Black Language varieties spoken by African Americans, and intracommunal perceptions of those varieties. Sociophonetics is the subfield where her passions of sociology and phonetics/phonology meet. Making linguistics and linguistic education accessible for marginalized communities is important for Alexis, especially as someone who is Black and dyslexic. Beyond language, some of her hobbies include rollerskating, listening to jazz, and watching horror movies.
