Joshua MartinJosh is a fourth year PhD student in Linguistics. His research focuses on linguistic bias against African American English in automatic speech recognition technologies. He is interested in understanding disparities at the intersection of language, race, and technology. He also teaches an undergraduate course called Language in the USA that explores linguistic diversity and discrimination within the United States. When not studying or teaching, he enjoys fantasy/sci-fi stories, watching Living Single, and eating good food with good friends.

Fun fact about me: I love spicy food, and I can’t stand chocolate.
